Tata Motors TTM

By all accounts Tata group is highly leveraged and has to payback several billion dollars in debts over coming months. CDs are selling at large discounts anywhere from 45% to 55%. All sentiment is negative and there are high expectations of defaults.
But this is still the strongest and well positioned automotives in India. There is no other company with similar range of products, sales and service network, facilities and technical staff. The top management is world class though it has been reckless in the last few years on acquisitions and leverage.
Tata Motors is a good bet and once the economy improves, I think it will strongly bounce back in absence of competition and on the back of the transport market. Buy now and stay invested.

Is there money in banks?

Saw Obama's press conference today morning? You have to give the guy full marks for at least trying. Hearing him speak also hits you hard on the US economy. I could well visualise the poor and hungry masses, industrial wastelands, long food lines.... Scary..
On another note, have been tracking several banks across geography- SBI, Canara, Yes Bank in India, DB (DB), Citi (C) and Bank of America (BAC). All of them have some bounce back in last two weeks - from 2-5%. The surprise has been BAC which has jumped from less than $4 to touch almost $7 in 5 days. Something going on here. Not much in public domain but this one is not following the crowd. Time to cash in and buy again on next dip.

Great Singapore, Entry for February 10, 2009

Having moved to Singapore after living in Holland and Africa for last 12 years I find this country wonderful. Certainly, for a desi Indian like me.

After the laid back lifestyle of Europe this is a welcome change. It thrives, people are interested in food, money, life and so much else. Family is comfortable and happy.

Now to get down to the serious work of recovering all my lost wealth where I could only watch the Networth graph crashing week after week.

Lick your wounds and brood.
